Summary
The book I am reading right now is called, Matched By Ally Condie. This book is about this seventeen-year-old girl named, Cassia Maria Reyes. Who lives in a place called "Oria" that makes decision for the people who live in the society. But outside Oria, there are provinces, which are called, outer-provinces that has war and no rules unlike in Oria. The society allows citizens to have one object from the past and everyone in the society has three different emergency tablets. There is a green, blue and red tablet, the green tablet is to calm you down, the blue tablet is to keep you alive without food and water for three days, and the red tablet is to forget disturbing memory. In this society Officials makes decisions on, who you love, where you work and when you die. You cannot get to chose or make decision for any of that. When people in the turn seventeen they are required to go to a "Matching Ceremony" where you will find out who you get matched with and you will get married with you match when you turn twenty-one. The first Matched Ceremony people would go to is their own one because The Society require people to be over seventeen-years-old to go. So Cassia just turned seventeen, it's time for her to go to the Match Ceremony. When the Officials announce other seventeen-year-old match, you could see a picture of their match on the screen. But when it was the time, the Officials to announce Cassia's match; the screens goes dark and blank. The officials announced that it is, Xander Carrow; she was instantly happy because he is her best friend. Everyone that got matched at the Matching Ceremony gets a micro-card, which told him or her more about his or her match. But when Cassia turned on her micro-card the boy that was on it wasn't Xander, it was a different boy. The boy's name is, Ky Markham. But it was weird to have Ky Markham's micro-card because he is aberration, which means he's not matched with anyone. A few weeks later after that her grandfather turns eighty-years-old, which is the age the society decides that people will die at. But before her grandfather dies he opens the object that they had from the past and inside there was a poem, the poem was a secret because the society only allows 100 poems, 100 songs, 100 pieces of art work and more. What will Cassia do with that poem? Who is Cassia's real matched? And who does she likes?
The Protagonist
The protagonist of this book is Cassia Maria Reyes. She is a seventeen-year-old girl that lives in Oria Province with her father, Abam, her mother, Molly and her younger brother, Bram. Cassia's father is an officials and her mother works with flowers and garden. Cassia's best friend is Xander Carrow, which is also her match. Cassia often visits her grandfather until he died. Before her grandfather died he was a role model to her. Cassia skill in The Society is sorting, she is a very fast at sorting. She is a kind of person that thinks a lot about things, Cassia is also the kind of girl that likes to get almost 100% at her skills. Her favourite colour is green. Cassia has long coppery brown hair and green eyes with a trace of dimples. If a famous actor plays Cassia, I think Shailene Woodley could play her because she looks young, she has long; brown-coppery hair and green eyes just like Cassia.
Settings
This book takes place in the far away future. In this society Officials likes everything to be perfect. People called the Officials control this society. In this community they have houses, workplaces for citizens, city halls, movie theatres, pools and anything you could think a city could have. This society has air trains for transportation. In this community they don't have a lot of green trees and grass but they do have some in different community, but they can only go if they have permission or have signed up for any activities like hiking. In this book they also have outer-provinces which are not controlled by Officials so they have war, no rules which makes people who live there; have freedom of who they like, when to get marry, where they work and when they die unlike in Oria. The setting of this book reminds me of the city we live in our life but just with rules about our life.
